Overview

Prepare and release Operation and Maintenance (O&M) manuals for JBT Aerotech, Jetway Systems® equipment and provide visual and technical communication support to department manager as needed.  Develop and prepare O&M manuals in accordance with company, commercial, and customer specifications and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Engineering Department to obtain necessary information to develop and ensure the accuracy of product descriptions, procedures, and parts for each product manual.
  • Work closely with project managers to ensure that product O&M manuals meet the customer requirements and specifications for each project.
  • Interpret complex technical data and information and simplify it into a form suitable for each product O&M manual.
  • Read, interpret, and understand job order releases to determine necessary product manual content for each customer.
  • Using engineering drawings and documentation, create illustrations of products, product systems, and product assemblies to give high quality and concise visual clarification as to all aspects of a given product's operation and maintenance.
  • Create illustrated parts breakdowns from mechanical and electrical engineering releases and various in-house computer programs.
  • Maintain accurate records for each manual produced.
  • Revise and document changes to existing O&M Manuals as product changes are made.
  • Organize and prepare manuals for print and/or CD reproduction.
  • Assist the Department Manager, as required, to improve departmental performance.
  • Manage time, set priorities, and complete all tasks in a timely manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) in English, Technical Writing, Tech./Visual Communications, or related field or equivalent from a four-year college or university; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write technical procedures and descriptions, reports, and business correspondence in various formats and styles. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.  Strong understanding of English and English grammar and syntax.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

COMPUTER SKILLS

A working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat is required. Experience with Adobe InDesign and graphics design programs such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Corel Draw is preferred, but not required. The ability to become proficient in these programs is necessary to perform required duties. Familiarity with CAD systems and programs such as AutoCad and NX is also desirable.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 55 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Most work is performed at a desk, while some tasks require time spent in a production/warehouse environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
