The purpose of the DSI Applications and Sales Support Engineer position is to assist with the ongoing operation or sale of vision guided waterjet portioning systems for the food processing industry. Major activities include gathering and prioritizing customer requirements, performing a situation assessment, locating necessary information and resources, exploring options, identifying a solution, manipulating the portioning system software to meet the customer needs, measuring results, and communicating results. The applications engineer is responsible for coordinating his or her customer visits based upon department priorities and strategic initiatives. The engineer will work as part of a team that shares information and insights weekly. The position requires frequent travel and an ability to develop working relationships across functions such as sales, project management, engineering, operations, executive management, and the customers’ factory personnel.
Essential Duties and Percent of Time Spent:
Achieve proficiency in DSI software applications
Gather and prioritize customer requirements
Perform situation assessments
Explore options and identify a preferred solution
Communicate clearly to Software necessary information for new cut solution code work
Manipulate the portioning system software or the customers process to meet the customer needs
Measure results or improvements and communicate results
Coordinate personal schedule, daily activities, and customer visits based upon department priorities and strategic initiatives
Share information and insights routinely with colleagues. Learn from interactions with customer, colleagues and equipment
Develop working relationships across functions such as with sales, engineering, operations and executive management, and our customers’ factory personnel
Knowledge and Skills:
BS degree in engineering, with strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. The position requires an aptitude and understanding of technical concepts involving computers, software, and robotics principles. The ability to creatively translate customer requirements into practical applications is a must.
