    Purpose:

    The Manufacturing Engineer I implements, integrates or improves on manufacturing systems to improve quality and reduce costs. This position will be liaison between design engineering and manufacturing departments.

     

    Essential Duties and Percent of Time Spent:

    Provide the manufacturing liaison between design engineering for product release to the shop floor.

    20%

    Confer with design engineering and shop floor personnel regarding part or assembly design and fabrication details.

    20%

    Create and follow-up with design engineering on any part design deficiencies and or improvements through the ENC process.   Communicate ECN changes to the shop floor personnel.

    10%

    Create BOMs and routers for intra company manufactured items through Visual MRP System

    40%

    Establish, maintain and analyze router times in the MRP system including calculating and optimizing set-up and run times.

    5%

    Design jigs and fixtures.

    5%

    Participate in design reviews and proactively drive for DFMA.

     

    Embrace and drive Lean Enterprise initiatives.

    Requirements:

    Knowledge and Skills:

    BS in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or Technology.

     

    Experience:

    0-5 years’ manufacturing engineering experience in an OEM equipment manufacturing environment. Shop floor manufacturing experience in metal fabrication, finishing, welding equipment and processes. Part and assembly cost estimating and shop floor router development. Experience with AutoCAD and/or Inventor or other solid modeling software package.

    Financial Responsibility:

    Will be required to stay within departmental budget.

    Work Environment:

    Manufacturing shop floor environment which is not air conditioned. Exposure to possible hazards include lifting objects, occasional noise and fork lifts.

     

    Physical Demands:

    Manufacturing environment will require walking, occasional lifting and standing. Spends part of day in office environment, sitting and operating a computer.
