    The Pharamaceutical Product Line Manager (PLM) will help hire, develop and lead a functional team dedicated to the Pharmaceutical equipment and systems business within JBT. The PLM is responsible for setting the strategy and execution plan of the product line, and has responsiblity for the product line P&L. The PLM position establishes target customer-product combinations, provides support to regional sales organziations, and develops specific marketing plans and activities to establish, enhance, or distinguish placement within the competitive arena & pricing.

    Responsibilities

    • Lead a small functional team of people within the organization dedicated to the aggressive growth of the pharmaceutical business at JBT. This team will have a startup mentality and be a “business within the business”. Assist in the identification and hiring of strategic resources such as pharmaceutical engineers, mechanical and electrical designers, and QC personnel.
    • Double JBT’s Pharmaceutical Equipment business in 5 years. Develop an executable product line strategy to strengthen the JBT franchise and grow earnings. Synchronize the product line strategy with the overarching Liquid Foods strategy.Communicate the product line strategy & direction to appropriate functions/individuals within the company.
    • Through travel and personal interaction with customers, suppliers and industry contacts, maintain high-level external perspective regarding threats and opportunities relevant to the product line. Understand industry/segment trends, customer requirements, and competitive dynamics.
    • Meet with executive, mid-level and plant-level customer contacts to understand the voice of the customer and provide input into the strategic plan and execution plan
    • Research customer product requirements, competitive offerings, and product gaps to determine market needs for new products
    • Champion the Pharmaceutical business within JBT and work with General Managers and Function Leaders to other JBT resources to support the product line (Matrix-level leadership)
    • Drive for results to achieve product line targets. Use the necessary tactics, tools, logistics, campaigns, and basic messaging to position assigned technology/product line.
    • Research and use sales intelligence from the field to obtain market data, monitor competitive activity, and identify customer needs. Pull in region sales, business development and marketing resources as needed.
    • Establish global pricing strategies and determine appropriate prices for new and existing products in each region.
    • Identify competing and adjacent technologies that could fit into the JBT portfolio.
    • Identify, implement and commercialize new features and equipment that can be developed internally through Product Development.
    • Lead cross-functional teams/groups, (i.e., launch teams); developing new products or enhancing existing product(s) or product line(s).
    • Final decision maker on product specifications.
    • Work with the team to develop new product development strategies, projects and targets to grow the business. Manage risks during the execution of product rationalization and new product launches.
    • Support the commercial team with market launch and product training packages (internal and external).
    • Work with the team to suggest potential bolt-on acquisitions to expand the pharma equipment business.
    • Set and monitor target revenues, unit and margin goals for each project

    Qualifications

    Mandatory: 

    • 4 year college degree in business management, engineering, or science
    • 5 or more years working within the Pharmaceutical Industry in sales, marketing, product line management, or project management
    • Strong leadership ability with proven ability to lead high functioning teams
    • Experience leading in a Matrix organization
       

    Preferred: 

    • MBA, Masters of Science in relevant field
    • 10+ years working within the Pharmaceutical Industry in sales, marketing, product line management, or project management
    • Well-developed relationships within the Pharmaceutical Industry
    • Experience leading virtual teams from different regions or countries
