    We have an immediate opportunity for an Automation Startup Technician.

    The Automation Startup Technician provides technical expertise to the Automation Department to meet or exceed customer requirements. This position is responsible for, but not limited to, onsite startup, and FAT support for hardware and programming of controls for A&B Process Systems equipment.  This position also is responsible for supporting Customer Care Services for technical support as well as service calls via phone as well as to customer sites.




    • Provides project support for electrical testing including; factory acceptance testing (At A&B), and start-up and commissioning (At Customer Site).. Electrical Testing entails PLC/HMI , Instrumentation Setup and commissioning, Control Panel/Electrical wiring checkout, and system functionality.
    • Estimated 50% - 75% Travel
    • Supports Customer Care including technical service calls and customer site visits
    • Troubleshoot existing equipment in operation in the field from an electro-mechanical standpoint
    • Provides documentation and training for the customer.
    • Assists in maintaining and follows Automation Engineering standards and SOPs to ensure a quality engineered product.
    • Implements and participates in continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Performs duties as assigned by the Automation Engineering Lead.


    The Automation Startup Technician is expected to have a working knowledge in the following areas of control system design:


    • PLC/HMI programming for process control systems: Experience with Rockwell Software ControlLogix platform and RSView ME/SE is required. Experience with other platforms such as Siemens is a plus.
    • Read and understand electrical schematics as well as P&ID drawings
    • Control Systems Experience: Knowledge of Process Control Instrumentation, Control Panel design, and Control System design.
    • Directly interfacing with customers to ensure that project scope and schedule are maintained (From Factory Acceptance Testing Forward), and change orders are issued when necessary.This position will allow candidates to work on custom and semi-standard process equipment control systems in an environment that promotes the use of common components and programming. Candidates are expected to perform a variety of tasks relying upon their judgment to plan and accomplish project goals.. The position also provides the opportunity to enhance the Automation Team as a whole through shared technical knowledge and mentoring. Candidates must be willing to travel 50% to 75% of the time.


    Associates Degree in Electromechanical or other Automation field with over 4 years of automation technician experience is preferred; equivalent combination of education and technical experience.   Knowledge of Control System Electrical Engineering\Design, PLC\HMI Programming, and Instrumentation is required.  Knowledge of Process Control Systems related to the pharmaceutical, food processing, chemical, beverage, and dairy industries is preferred.
