    John Bean Technologies Corporation and its predecessor companies have a long history of technical innovation. JBT traces its roots to 1884 when inventor John Bean developed a new type of spray pump to combat San Jose scale in California's orchards.

    Today, JBT Corporation’s AeroTech Division is a world leader in the supply of airport equipment and services focused on the future.  At our Orlando, Florida facility we manufacture airport ground support equipment, including aircraft deicers, aircraft tow tractors, cargo loaders and transporters.  

    The Fabrication Specialist will complete all outlined duties and job responsibilities of a Fabricator in an efficient and professional manner.

    Specific duties include:

    • Set up and Operate CNC and manual metal processing machines of various degrees of complexity.
    • Perform routine quality inspections of items produced in the Fabrication department using various appropriate measuring devices.
    • Assist others during fabrication of components in area of expertise. Teach other fabricators proper techniques and procedures.
    • Complete required documentation (check sheets, ECRs, MRRs, material movement paperwork, raw material requisitions, etc.)
    • Resolve routine questions and problems. Refers more complex issues to team manager.
    • Perform all duties in a safe manner and keeps all employees aware of dangers in work area.
    • Understand, adhere to, and participate in all aspects of Lean Enterprise as it pertains to JBT (focusing on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost).
    • Participate in JBT’s Relentless Continuous Improvement efforts by identifying and submitting, to the team manager, a minimum of (3) opportunities for improvements per year.
    • Use material handling equipment to move parts, components from one work center, department, or storage area to another as required.
    • May be asked to perform team support roles to assist team manager.
    • Follow Safety, Health, Environment, and Hazardous Waste Rules and Responsibilities.
    • Practice good housekeeping in work area.
    • Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company’s discretion.


    Education and Experience:

    • High school diploma or GED.
    • Technical / vocational / or military training or related experience is helpful.
    • Weld experience / training is not required, but is desired.
    • Minimum of 1 year previous experience in a fabrication environment / role.
    • Manual mill experience is required.
    • Prior brake, saw and laser experience preferred.


    Specialized Knowledge, Equipment, and Applications:

    • Work and excel in a fast paced, team oriented environment. Ability to multi-task and effectively communicate with team members is a MUST.
    • Quickly adapt to revised work assignments on weekly / daily / hourly basis depending on what business needs dictate.
    • Take direction and communicate effectively with team manager or higher level authority
    • Understand daily performance objectives, perform to meet those objectives and report constraints to team manager.
    • Ability to comprehend blueprints and be able to understand written engineering procedures.
    • Ability to use personal computer and / or workstation.
    • Ability to use hand and air tools, measuring devices, cranes, and assembly fixtures.
    • Ability to effectively use various measuring devices (calipers, tape measures, micrometers, etc.)
    • Ability and willingness to learn and utilize mig welding process’.
    • Ability to multi-task.


    Training Requirements (licenses, programs, or certificates):

    Additional Training: Appropriate moving vehicle certifications, overhead and jib certification, machine operation and basic preventative maintenance of machines, and Mig welding. If not already experienced, learn how to weld using Mig process’ and procedures.



    Special Information (Travel required, physical requirements, work environment, supervisor responsibilities, safety and so on)

    Work Environment- Shop environment, occasionally outside and in test.

    Physical Demands- Position requires bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, using various hand and air tools, crawling in confined workspace, walking and lifting daily. Ability to lift up to 40lbs from various heights and angles; on a regular basis, lifting of up to 25 pounds is required.
