  • Overview


    This position executes all Human Resources activities related to the everyday management of employee relations, safety, recruitment and onboarding, training and development, compensation and benefits administration, compliance, records for the JBT Wolf-tec/X-ray business unit. The role provides administrative expertise, is an employee champion, a strategic partner for management and an agent of change for all.  Provides input to leadership team on human resource and strategic management matters. Participates in committees and special projects as needed and embraces the Lean Enterprise strategy and adheres to all safety policies.


    Location- Kinston NY


    • Fosters positive working relations among staff. Coaches and counsels employees.  Consults with, trains and advises managers on sensitive employment issues, progressive discipline up to and including employment terminations. Performs difficult staffing duties, including dealing with understaffing, referring disputes, firing employees, and administering disciplinary processes.
    • Serves as link between corporate/senior management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and administering contracts and helping resolve work-related problems. Consults with Corporate HR and/or legal counsel as appropriate.
    • Enforces compliance with the company safety program under direction from Corporate HSE. Creates new safety policies as needed and reviews with HSE. Chairs Safety Committee. Investigates accidents and reports to HSE Director. 
    • Participates in Lean Enterprise activities. Coordinates and updates lean board for HR.
    • Manages the recruiting/ hiring process by coordinating job postings, actively recruiting, reviewing resumes, interviewing candidates, performing background checks and selecting qualified candidates for further review. Arranges for pre-employment drug tests and physicals for new employees. Obtains required legal and administrative documentation, including H1B visas, for new hires. Coordinates the use of temporary employees. Plans and conducts new employee orientation programs. Conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations. Plans, implements and coordinates intern program.
    • Communicates benefits including 401 (k), PTO, health and dental, etc. information to employees.  Coordinates open enrollment and other benefits meetings. Communicates and enforces corporate and local policies. Periodically reviews and revises local policies with input from senior managers.
    • Assists with annual budget development as required. Recommends, plans and implements pay actions. Assists in the preparation and administration of the company's bonus plan.
    • Audits payroll periodically to ensure that salaries and are accurate. Administers job classification program, which developing and updating job descriptions as warranted.
    • Ensures regulatory compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal, state and local laws and regulations, conducting investigations, maintaining records, and representing the organization at hearings.
    • Identifies training needs, determines cost effective solutions, coordinates, implements and evaluates the effectiveness of the training. Assists managers with development internal talent. Works with management to define high potential employees and to improve effectiveness, knowledge of all staff.
    • Maintains a human resources system that includes records on hires, promotions, transfers, and terminations. Manages performance review process and system.

    Occasional Responsibilities:
    Performs other duties as assigned. Participates in and seeks leadership roles within organizations and activities that help with the growth of the workforce within the industry and community. Special projects as needed.


    Knowledge and Skills:

    • Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field with HR certification(s) or MBA. 
    • Demonstrated interpersonal and active listening skills in interacting with all levels of employees, fostering positive working relations, and negotiating, consulting and resolving issues.
    • Awareness of state and federal labor laws and their implications.
    • Ability to motivate, develop and direct people.
    • Ability to solve complex problems.
    • Ability to communicate effectively and confidently.
    • Comfortable interacting with local and corporate leadership.
    • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
    • Ability to multitask and handle multiple priorities. 
    • Ability to perform tasks involving a large amount of detail.

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office and web applications.


    • 5- 7 years of direct, hands on HR Generalist experience  
    • Experience with HRIS and Payroll systems.
    • Proven success in developing and executing human resources initiatives in regard to: employee relations, training, performance review, recruitment and orientation, salary oversight and [not needed at site – handled by corporate], etc.

    Supervisory Responsibility:
    Full management responsibility and accountability for performance of assigned team. Defines objectives that align with company, business unit and functional goals. Specifies what is to be done at staff levels and how the resources allocated by upper management are to be deployed. Establishes the standards, guidelines and procedures needed for assigned area. Focus is on strategy implementation.

    Financial Responsibility:
    Authority to make commitments involving time and budget matters affecting the represented area. Faulty decisions or recommendations, or failure to achieve results would typically result in significant expenditure of funds within assigned area.
