A management position responsible for ensuring that the business unit is able to fulfill customer orders in a timely and cost effective manner. Major areas of responsibility include pre-procurement requirements planning; logistics supply chain coordination, work in process sequencing, and purchasing by getting materials into the building on time to meet production schedule. This function will be responsible for setting strategic and operational logistics and Inventory objectives, tracking progress on these objectives, and reporting progress to senior management


  • Develop and implement logistics strategies and processes for the business unit
  • Ensure materials priorities are communicated according to production schedules and customer demands. Achieves OTD of materials to POU locations on each product line.
  • Safeguard the business unit’s investment in inventory and protect against inventory obsolescence. Maintains Inventory Cycle Count accuracy >95%
  • Ensure that plant efficiency is maintained through effective materials planning
  • Develop and expand the capability and effectiveness of direct reports
  • Ensure the Master Schedule is accurately maintained with error free work orders.
  • Ensure all inventory functions to align inventory levels with working capital objectives
  • Dedicated Lean Champion
  • Ability to direct and develop Tactical Purchasing.
  • Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company’s discretion.


Education and Experience:

  • BA or BS in business administration, technology, science, operations or related field
  • MBA or Masters degree in related field is preferred
  • At least 5 years of experience as a Materials Manager
  • 10 years of experience in Leading improvements in Manufacturing processes and Inventory Control preferred.
  • Experience managing or working directly with the Tactical Purchasing department in previous role.

Specialized Knowledge, Equipment, and Applications:

  • Lean and Six Sigma certifications, PFEP, Lean material flow experience a plus.
  • APICS certification or equivalent required.
  • An understanding of ERP systems with an emphasis on MRP and Inventory Control is required.
  • Demonstrated managerial experience with ability to delegate and develop resources.
  • Must demonstrate strong planning and organizational skills, interpersonal skills and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office tools, Scheduling and ERP software are required.

Additional Training:

Logistics management, Inventory Control, and MRP.



Special Information (Travel required, physical requirements, work environment, supervisor responsibilities, safety and so on):

  • Work Environment- Spends most of time in an office/shop environment. Throughout the normal course of routine activities some time is spent in manufacturing environments external to the business unit
  • Physical Demands- Frequent sitting and operating computer. Fast paced atmosphere with multiple priorities and multiple internal and external contacts. Travel required for supplier contact.

  • Supervisor Responsibilities- $55-$85 Million USD Inventory annual consumption. Directly manages 6 – 8 employees. Direct day to day management and leadership of Master Scheduling and Planning, Inventory Control, and Purchasing. Procedures and Processes used by these functions will be reviewed and updated as necessary. The ability to identify problems, lead root cause analysis, and develop permanent corrective actions within a deadline driven customer focus. Must create Safe and Environmentally friendly behaviors and conditions in accordance with JBT Policies and Procedures.
  • Relationship Responsibilities- This position will work closely with all levels and functions within the organization.
  • Maintain proper housekeeping and safety standards by properly using protective equipment, safe operation of all machinery, tools, and equipment as well as following safety rules at all times.
