Overview

The Quality Control Manager will proactively work with the organization to improve our business processes, and ensure our organization is able to respond to all aspects of our customer’s requirements: order execution, delivered quality, service, and maintenance support.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and test materials received ensuring established requirements are met. Work to improve and communicate component requirements when component is found to be non-conforming.
  • Develop in-process inspection criteria at various stages in the production process and train technicians to perform inspections and monitor performance.
  • Participates in Engineering design reviews and initiate or recommend improvement actions.
  • Work closely with warranty, reliability, and field service to ensure that customer issues are understood , communicated to the appropriate departments, and that permanent corrective action has been implemented.
  • Working with the Quality Inspectors to ensure all quality issues are addressed and communicated to suppliers, purchasing, engineering, and manufacturing.
  • Determines the root causes of product defects, and communicates to all areas of the business.
  • Develops methods for reducing defect reoccurrence.
  • Follows up to ensure that the actions taken for reducing defect reoccurrence are effective.
  • Communicates and publishes quality initiatives, results, and lessons learned as appropriate, to strengthen all departments awareness and involvement
  • Coordinates and participates in ASME internal and external audits. Train and mentor Quality inspectors.
  • Responsible for Plant wide tool calibration ensuring tools requiring calibration are cycled properly and documented.
  • Responsible for recruiting, hiring and training staff. May direct employees in matters of quality and inspection, and assist in disciplining personnel when standards are not met.
  • Travel to vendor locations or a production faculty is required (10%)
  • Develops and nurtures an environment that promotes Quality as an essential attribute that must be embedded in every aspect of our business process.
  • Keep accurate documentation and perform statistical analysis
  • Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company’s discretion.
  • Lead a cross functional Quality improvement team

Work Environment

 

Able to function equally well in an office environment and manufacturing and assembly floor. Adherence to all safety requirements and use of personal protective equipment within the plant is mandatory.

 

Physical Demands

 

Significant computer work. Frequent standing and walking around the facility primarily on the factory floor

 

Supervisor Responsibilities - 3 to 5 indirect employees.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science or Engineering is required
  • Master of Science – Electrical / Mechanical Engineering is preferred
  • 3+ years’ experience as Quality Control Manager with a heavy equipment manufacturer
  • ASME Certified inspector required
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • In depth understanding of quality control procedures and relevant legal standards
  • Excellent math abilities and working knowledge of data analysis/statistical methods
