  • Overview

    Plans and manages multiple projects including the coordination of materials and personnel: in-house, with suppliers, and on-site at customer locations. Manages the detailed technical schedule and financial performance of the project to deliver a quality product, on time, and within the project budget. Serves as the primary internal point of contact for Customers, Sales, Service, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Engineering during the order execution phase of the project.

    Responsibilities

    Ensures compliance with safety, quality, and financial reporting requirements as per company policies/procedures.

     

    Defines, implements, and manages project management processes, procedures, and measurements. Tracks continuous improvement activities.

     

    Provides technical overview and participates in technical sessions that will have an effect on product safety, quality, schedule, and cost.

     

    Serves as the primary internal point of contact with management and coordinates effective communications among various functional areas and other JBT product areas, including requests from other JBT locations that may be involved in a project.

     

    In conjunction with the project team (sales, applications, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, field service, freezer cost analyst and/or the PM performance analyst), establishes realistic project budgets and ensures booked gross margins are achieved.

     

    Signs-off project budgets.

     

    Manages customer expectations with respect to problem resolution, and ensures JBT FoodTech has the ability to meet those expectations.

     

    Travels to customer sites to assess site conditions with respect to prospective and received orders, assists with troubleshooting production problems, and/or customer personnel training. Customer locations may be domestic or international.

     

    Approves requisitions submitted by project managers  for project-related material and labor, and completes receiving transactions as required.

     

    Ensures adequate and timely resources are applied to projects and that deliverables are met.

     

    Tracks and manages project performance through actual cost analysis; site reports; and frequent contact with field technicians, project management performance analyst and/or freezer cost analyst, suppliers and customers.  

     

    Approves project-related expenditures and manages costs to meet budget commitments.

     

    Manages change order process to ensure appropriate internal controls (approvals) are met

     

    Manages processes around the  monthly forecast of expected project completion, costs, and final gross margin as a part of ASC 606 requirements.

     

    Reports project performance status to JBT management and project team members on a bi-weekly basis .

     

    Conducts post project reviews with the project management team as well as other stakeholders to determine areas of performance needing reinforcement or corrective action. Requests corrective action from responsible departments.

     

    Develops and tracks personnel’s career objectives and coordinates the growth process by conducting performance reviews, individual interviews, and recommending training and development opportunities.

     

    Accesses the SyteLine business system to gather information regarding orders, jobs, costs, etc.

    Qualifications

    Knowledge and Skills:

    BS Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Project Management, or related field. MBA or equivalent business experience preferred. Knowledge of high-volume portioning, coating, frying, cooking, freezing, and refrigeration equipment and processes. Well-developed critical thinking skills to interpret and utilize information from a variety of sources and interpret highly technical concepts. Ability to develop, monitor, analyze, and control project budgets. Highly developed organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and thrive in a change-oriented, fast-paced, high stress environment where schedules, deadlines, and customer demands can shift priorities. Ability to read and interpret engineering and assembly drawings. Ability to utilize AutoCAD software. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively interface with co-workers, customers, and suppliers. Strong analytical problem solving/root cause analysis techniques along with preventive and corrective action skills. Strong reporting and presentation skills. Strong negotiating, planning, verbal and written communications skills. Computer skill expertise in spreadsheet, word processing, MS Project, relational database, presentation, project management, and MS Outlook software applications. A working knowledge of ERP (SyteLine) business system software a plus.

     

    Experience:

    Certification in Project Management (PMP through PMI or equivalent) preferred. Minimum ten years’ experience with Project Management in a capital equipment environment. Technical background in manufacturing, fabrication, construction, and service disciplines. Leadership and team-building experience with the ability to integrate a diverse group of people to achieve objectives. Experience in supplier/procurement processes.
