The Indirect Tax Audit Analyst position is responsible for working Indirect Tax Audits in JBT’s Corporate Tax Department located within the Shared Service Center [SSC] which include; sales and use tax audits, fixed asset and property tax audits, and other indirect tax audits (including but not limited to) Good & Services Tax (GST), Value Added Tax (VAT), etc.

This position will also be responsible for providing assistance in reviewing and/or preparing and filing indirect tax returns. 

Additional responsibilities include providing guidance to the SSC accounting staff on tax requirements and changes that may be required to properly account for tax obligations; and supporting the US Sales and Use tax team with return review, compliance and filing, as needed.

This position will report to the Indirect Tax Manager.








  • Work and in some cases manage and successfully resolve some indirect tax audits for JBT Corporation. Review and prepare (as necessary) sales and use and property tax returns based on resourcing and staffing levels.
  • Work with JBT Indirect Tax Audit Supervisor by maintaining a tax savings database for all tax audit issues successfully resolved and negotiated/mitigated.
  • Work with JBT’s fixed asset function as needed for property tax returns and payments.
  • As needed provide guidance and act as a resource on the application of the state tax laws regarding sales and use and other indirect taxes to the Indirect Tax Team, to the Shared Service center, Corporate Tax Department, and JBT Business units.
  • Handle some GST, HST, PST, etc. audits for JBT Canada and for JBT US.
  • Conduct tax research as required and maintain tax compliance matrix or tax calendar.
  • Keep abreast of current developments in the tax area.
  • Serve as an information source and subject matter expert in this tax area within the company.
  • Develop audit best practices based on audit findings and audit conclusions.
  • Work with and in some instanced train and delegate work of less experienced Indirect Tax Team Members.
  • Maintain organized records on weekly or monthly deliverables and communicate/interact frequently with the JBT Corporate Tax Department in Chicago, IL.
  • Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company’s discretion.


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Accounting
  • At least 3 years of relevant indirect tax compliance experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in data management, with emphasis on Excel and Access, advanced Excel skills are a must.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
  • Knowledge of tax software such as Vertex and Taxware (Sovos).
  • Technical knowledge of tax rules and regulations
  • CPA, preferred but not required
