Machine Dept. Supervisor
Performs a variety of machining processes on Stainless Steel, Carbon Steel and Plastic stock material. Utilizes measuring and inspection equipment to ensure components meet tolerances specifications and quality standards.
Essential Duties and Percent of Time Spent:
Must have ability to interpret mechanical blueprints, perform machine set-up and use precision measuring devices and inspection equipment
Must have the skills to operate both manual and CNC machining centers and perform required machine set-ups.
Must have skills to achieve three decimal place tolerances on both manual and CNC machining centers
Plan the sequence of necessary actions for the completion of the job
Take measurements and mark material for cutting or shaping
Determine the program size of batches, speed of machine, etc.
Monitor machine while working to adjust the feed, maintain temperature and identify issues
Check output to ensure consistency with specifications and discard defects
Keep records of approved and defective units or final products
Perform routine machine maintenance and repair minor damages
May be cross-trained in job functions based on capacity requirements.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills:
Must have High School Diploma or GED and 3 years work related experiences or Associates Degree in Machining Technology or Journeyman Machinist Certification and 1 year work related experience.
Experience in both conventional manual machining and CNC machining required. Must be able to work within a team environment and interact well with co-workers.
JBT Corporation Operating Procedures, safety procedures, ISO quality procedures, rigging training, MRP system training. Will be required to advance skill set in fabrication and mechanical assembly.
Scope of Responsibility/Accountability:
Must have the ability to understand and interpret mechanical blueprints, work instructions, written procedures and oral and written instructions. Ability to work independently to meet production schedules. Ability to utilize shop math fundamentals and problem solving techniques to resolve fabrication issues and sequence machine set-ups.
Must meet quality standards, production schedules and labor standards. Variances on labor standards impact cost and on-time delivery performance and result in installation and customer production down-time.

Time is spent in a manufacturing shop environment. Exposure to possible shop hazards including noise, heavy lifting, machinery, forklift and crane traffic. Could be exposed to diverse hot and cold climate conditions for extended periods.
Frequent standing, walking, and climbing. Will be required to lift 50 lbs., push mobile carts and work from a ladder or platform.
