John Bean Technologies Corporation and its predecessor companies have a long history of technical innovation. JBT traces its roots to 1884 when inventor John Bean developed a new type of spray pump to combat San Jose scale in California's orchards.

Today, JBT Corporation’s AeroTech Division is a world leader in the supply of airport equipment and services focused on the future.  At our Orlando, Florida facility we manufacture airport ground support equipment, including aircraft deicers, aircraft tow tractors, cargo loaders and transporters.  


As a Customer Care Strategic Buyer with JBT AeroTech, you will be responsible for the timely procurement of materials and services from suppliers while adhering to the negotiated price, quality, inventory levels and delivery to meet the company’s overall needs. Specific duties include:


  • Responsible for $8 to $10+ million in material purchases.
  • Perform and interpret ERP systems planning signals and take appropriate actions.
  • Performs systems analysis and applies an understanding of the manufacturing process and supplier capabilities to the demand sequence and job start dates generated by MRP to identify potential material availability problems.
  • Learn supplier base strengths and weaknesses and integrate into planning decisions and executions.
  • Foster positive and cooperative relationships with suppliers and internal customers.
  • Execute purchase orders in accordance with proper procedures.
  • Evaluate the most cost effective value for procurement alternatives. Develop and implement verifiable cost savings strategies.
  • Effectively manage inventory to minimize capital employed.
  • Works to resolve potential problems and avoid disruptions to production flow and or spare parts fulfillment.
  • Work collaboratively with the Sales and Customer Care teams to ensure high on-time delivery performance to meet and exceed customer expectations.
  • Work collaboratively with Production to ensure that materials are received in a timely manner to support production.
  • Work collaboratively with Global Sourcing / Purchasing Team to ensure adherence to all negotiated agreements and pricing.
  • Work collaboratively with Quality to ensure that all purchased material conforms to requirements.
  • Provides updates on material availability to enhance planning and minimize interruptions.
  • Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company’s discretion.




  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • At least 5 years of procurement experience
  • Experience with heavy machinery; Specific JBT equipment a plus
  • Experience in a highly customizable, fast-paced manufacturing environment preferred

Training Requirements (licenses, programs, or certificates): C.P.M. or APICS certification is desired.   Certification will be required within two years of start. 


Additional Training:

Specialized Knowledge, Equipment, and Applications:

  • Experience with MRP and or ERP systems as well as Microsoft Office tools.
  • Lean Enterprise training / experience
  • Experience with industrial equipment / capital goods industries



Special Information (Travel required, physical requirements, work environment, supervisor responsibilities, safety and so on):

Work Environment- The successful candidate will be comfortable and able to function equally well in an office environment and on the floor of our manufacturing and assembly plant.  Adherence to all safety requirements and use of personal protective equipment within the plant is mandatory. 

Physical Demands- Long periods of sitting and repetitive motion, especially computer keyboarding.  Frequent standing and walking around the facility, including on the factory floor.

Supervisor Responsibilities- This position has an contracted Expeditor for support

Degree of Supervision- Works under minimal supervision.

Relationship Responsibilities- As part of the Sales & Support team, the employee will need to work collaboratively with Customer Care Sales & Support, Tactical Purchasing, Sourcing, Engineering, Quality, Production, Inventory and Accounting staff.  Must be able to build excellent rapport with assigned suppliers as necessary to maximize value of supply chain relationships.  

Travel- While extensive travel is not necessary for this position; the successful candidate will need to be able to travel on supplier visits as required.

Safety- Maintain proper housekeeping and safety standards by properly using protective equipment, safe operation of all machinery, tools, and equipment as well as following safety rules at all times.
