Overview

John Bean Technologies Corporation and its predecessor companies have a long history of technical innovation. JBT traces its roots to 1884 when inventor John Bean developed a new type of spray pump to combat San Jose scale in California's orchards.

Today, JBT Corporation’s AeroTech Division is a world leader in the supply of airport equipment and services focused on the future.  At our Orlando, Florida facility we manufacture airport ground support equipment, including aircraft deicers, aircraft tow tractors, cargo loaders and transporters.  

 

These positions are currently contract with a high probability in extending to a long-term contract.

 

As a Control Systems Engineer II with JBT AeroTech, you will work under the direction of lead engineers to complete research, design, software generation, and testing of assigned projects. Plan, develop, and coordinate phases of assigned projects.  Interface with other teams to assure complete integration of all facets within the project.

 

Specific duties include:

 

  • Prepare timely and accurate heavy duty automotive software and electrical hardware designs based on written or verbal inputs and instructions. Demonstrated program experience with preference given to CoDeSys software programming techniques.
  • Prepare timely and accurate operation instructions, test, and validation documents for software and hardware designs. Participate or lead validation efforts and design reviews as required.
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge from all disciplines of engineering (mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, and software) to the design and control of complex systems.
  • Work closely with all engineering groups, support teams, and manufacturing, to assure accurate integration and on time completion of options, modifications and new designs.
  • Monitors assigned project status and reports progress and obstacles to management as required to complete tasks on schedule and within budget.
  • Provide assembly and test assistance and troubleshooting efforts as required to maintain production and delivery schedules.
  • Experience using 3D cad systems.   Ability to learn and utilize Unigraphics NX8.5 and Teamcenter 8.3 to create and revise 2D and 3D designs and drawings.
  • Perform manufacturing and test duties for extended periods of time as required by business needs or training purposes. FAST Response participation will be required.
  • Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company’s discretion.

 

 

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience:

 

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
  • Demonstrated knowledge of programming skills
  • Excellent knowledge of standard PC based office software
  • Understanding of PLC controlled systems and software preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of 3D CAD systems

 

Training Requirements (licenses, programs, or certificates): None

 

  • JBT Unigraphics, Teamcenter, and drafting standards
  • Operation of JBT equipment
  • Safety and shop practices
  • JBT work instructions
  • CoDeSys software
  • Various software packages
  • Other training as needed

 

 

Specialized Knowledge, Equipment, and Applications:

  • Strong analytical skills needed for troubleshooting and logic design.
  • Good written and oral communication; especially for communication of technical topics to non-technical people.
  • Knowledge of engineering standards and practices.
  • Working knowledge of MRP system - specifically bills of material structure and organization of models and options.
  • Solid math skills for basic engineering design and good knowledge of hydraulic formulas.
  • Some supervisory experience and management skills.

OTHER INFORMATION

Special Information (Travel required, physical requirements, work environment, supervisor responsibilities, safety and so on):

  • Work Environment- While this position is primarily in an office setting, extensive exposure and work in the manufacturing facility will be required. Visits to manufacturing and test areas will result in exposure to high noise levels, hot or cold ambient temperatures, congested work spaces and the exposure to potentially hazardous work environments normally associated with heavy duty manufacturing activities.
  • Physical Demands- Exposure to climbing ladders, working on machines, and working at heights other than ground level. Ability to drive and operate JBT products required.

  • Travel Requirements – Minimal domestic and international travel may be required.
  • Supervisor Responsibilities- No direct reports.
  • Type of Supervision Position works under: (close, moderate, minimal)
  • This position will work under supervision of lead engineers. Project completions schedules are to be established, communicated, and adhered to. This will require constant and accurate communication with management concerning the adjustment of work schedules, prioritization of jobs, and scheduling of overtime as required.
  • Relationship Responsibilities- Regular communication with internal customers, design teams, and management. Regular communication with vendors and outside service providers. Regular communication with management concerning project status and schedules.
  • Maintain proper housekeeping and safety standards by properly using protective equipment, safe operation of all machinery, tools, and equipment as well as following safety rules at all times.
