SUMMARY:

 

JBT Airport Services HRBP:

  • Is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in designated business units.
  • Serves as a consultant to management on human resource-related issues.
  • Acts as an employee champion and change agent.
  • Assesses and anticipates HR-related needs. Communicating needs proactively with our HR department and business management, the HRBP seeks to develop integrated solutions.
  • Formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization.
  • Will involve partnering with business operations in multiple states and internationally.
  • Maintains an effective level of business literacy about the business unit's financial position, its midrange plans, its culture and its competition.

Responsibilities

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Consults with line management, providing HR guidance when appropriate.
  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs and policies.
  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed/required.
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.
  • Develops and oversees the administrative process for terms, for new hires, promotions and transfers, leaves of absence
  • Provides guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning.
  • Identifies training needs for business units and individual executive coaching needs.
  • Participates in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success. Follows up to ensure training objectives are met.
  • Supports safety initiatives and coordiantes with site clinics on wcomp and other medical issues.
  • Participates in JBT's mission to relentlessly seek out way to improve processes and practices (Lean experience is preferred).  
  • Projects and assignments as directed by Sr. HR Manager.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not currently have any direct supervisory responsibilities, but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and smartphones.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position regularly requires long hours and occasional weekend work as job duties demand.

Travel

This position requires up to 25% - 30% domestic travel. 

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

Required Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 5 to 8 years' experience resolving complex employee relations issues.
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee and union relations, diversity, performance management, and federal/state respective employment laws, including California.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Master's Degree  
  • Labor Relations Experience

 

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential preferred

 

PREFERRED EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: 

  1. Knowledge of Davis-Bacon Act and Public Works and understanding of Prevailing, Living, Responsible Wage requirements
  2. Union/labor relations experience within a Skilled Trades industry
  3. Understanding of how to navigate through federal, state, and local law ordiances including California.  

  4. Advanced Excel user

  5. Experience in Lean methodolgy and/or other continuous improvement methodologies.
