Overview

The Assembler II Electrical position performs electrical assembly.  Performs operational testing and ensures that equipment meets test specifications.  Meets safety, production and quality targets.  Performs repetitive work on industrial grade equipment.  Works under supervision but performs work independently, when available follows detailed written and/or verbal instructions.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Percent of Time Spent:

  • Reads work orders, bills of materials, blueprints, schematics and other written or verbal work instructions to determine best assembly method. Verifies and gathers parts, components, tools and measuring devices needed for assembly.
  • Assembles parts, components, sub-assemblies or machines per specifications. Completes machining wiring. Uses measuring devices and test equipment to check dimensions and to verify that quality and operating standards are met.   Reports non-conformances to immediate supervisor.  Assemblies include mechanical and electrical components.   Performs additional operations on assembled machine or sub-assembly such as cleaning, deburring, testing etc. as required.
  • Tests equipment operation and software. Completes required test documentation including test reports, failed test reports and when required creates Non-Conformance Reports (NCR’s).
  • Enters work order production and labor time into Syteline and payroll hours into LaborTrak in a timely manner.
  • Cleans and performs preventative maintenance on tools and equipment if required.  Promptly reports any operational problems with machines or tooling to supervisor.  Practices good housekeeping in assigned area and properly disposes of waste according to safety and environmental policies.  Performs all duties in a safe manner and keeps all employees aware of potential dangers in work area.

Occasional Responsibilities:

  • Assists engineering with prototype assembly.
  • Assists customer service with problems in the field.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.



Qualifications

Requirements:

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Associates degree in electrical or electro-mechanical technology or trade school or equivalent work experience.
  • Mechanical ability with hand tools such as wrench, wire crimpers, drills, grinders, knockout punches, etc.
  • Working knowledge of bill of materials.
  • The ability to read mechanical and electrical wiring drawings and schematics.
  • Thorough knowledge of basic electrical theory, electrical meters and test equipment.
  • Wiring skills in working with high voltage (480v) and low voltage (24v).   
  • The ability to trouble-shoot down to the board level.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet safety, production and quality requirements in assigned area.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.  Safety and detail oriented.

Experience: 

  • At least 5 years related industrial equipment assembly experience using similar tools and measuring equipment. 

Physical Demands:   While performing the duties of this job is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk. Uses hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.  Regularly required to lift and move 35lbs. pounds.  Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
