Overview

Lead the Environmental, Health, Safety and Security program for JBT to ensure the successful delivery, implementation, administration and refinement of both regional and corporate EHS policies, procedures and best management practices. Assist management in the leadership and development and coordination of established internal policies, country specific requirements and leading EHS indicators; this includes training, record keeping, permits, policy and procedures and other related compliance issues.

Responsibilities

  • Establish, maintain and enforce safety programs, and policies. Implement JBT EHS Management Systems elements and/or ISO 14001 system or equivalent.
  • Responsible for compliance with all related regulatory regulations and Corporate compliance requirements. Development of accident prevention and loss control methods, procedures and programs
  • Lead Security and Crisis Management process for the region under direction of Corporate EHS&S Director.
  • Interface and influence both operations and field service organizations to ensure proper analysis, documentation, communication and implementation of corrective action items for all incidents of loss (i.e., injury, illnesses, liability, property and near miss).
  • Works directly with Protein locations and lead audit process and recommends corrective or preventative actions. Will implement plans centered on corrective actions.
  • Responsible for the safety training and compliance of all on site and off site employees within Protein North America. Will oversee employee training programs in accident and fire prevention and protection, and other employee safety programs.
  • Investigates accidents and injuries. Prepares legally required reports and any regular or special reports for use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.  Attends hearings as required.
  • Ensures environmental compliance – compliance with local, state, Federal and Corporate requirements relating to record keeping, permits, reports, training and other related concerns (Technical Environmental Contact).
  • Will interface in business development in transactions and business expansion. Will lead HSE&S standards within division projects and may work with other business as determined. 
  • Directs security management including asset protection and country specific security requirements. Will advise travelers on security risks and coordinate journey management if necessary. 
  • Will lead occupational health and industrial hygiene program. Will ensure injury and occupational medical documentation is completed.
  • Collaborates with key stakeholders (both internal and external). Interfaces with Corporate staff and leads Safety and Environmental audits off site as required.
  • Will participate in leading company sustainability process and will work closely with customer driven requirements in this area.
  • Shared leadership of Regional EHS staff. Responsible for development of Regional budget

 

Qualifications

Knowledge and Skills:

  • BS Degree - Prefer Industrial Engineering or Safety/Environmental Management Degree.
  • Related regulatory regulations (HSE and Corporate compliance requirements) knowledge.
  • Developed thought process in root cause analysis.
  • Established organizational skills and self direction as a senior manager.
  • Strong interpersonal skills- ability to lead through influence.
  • Occupational Health and Industrial Hygiene knowledge. 

Experience:

  • 10+ years leading EHS&S  programs in manufacturing (capital equipment) environment.
  • Multi site EHS responsibility is a plus
  • A Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivelant preffered.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

 

Work Environment:

Works in office environment approximately 50% of the time. Uses standard office equipment, related medical equipment, and industrial hygiene equipment. Job requires exposure to hazardous waste, blood borne pathogens, and employee security. Works in shop/service environment 50% of the time, which involves exposure to moderate noise levels, and all shop machinery. Will require frequent travel throughout USA and around globe as needed.

 

Physical Demands:

Position requires walking, bending, climbing, stooping and moderate lifting daily.
