    Position Summary:


    Respond to and clear faults and jams that occur with the baggage handling system.  Transport baggage within the baggage handling area.  Report any issues that are found that could potentially lead to additional system failures.  This position also completes entry level Maintenance Mechanic duties as needed and assists with operational issues during outages or failures.  Work in a safe manner.


    Physical demands:

    While performing the duties of a Bag Jam Clearer the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to climb or balance and work in small spaces.  Ladder work required.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.  Ability to climb in overhead structures, to work beneath machines and in close quarters performing analysis and repair work.  Ability to work in outside weather conditions on an airport tamp around aircrafts and the confined areas of baggage conveyor systems.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include good close proximity vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.  Good hand / eye coordination is required.


    Work Environment:

    The work environment is similar to airport operation with vehicular traffic.  The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; and outside weather conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.  Employees will work on an airport ramp around aircrafts and around heavy equipment.


     Position Requirements:


    • High School Diploma or GED
    • Active Driver License
    • Experience working at airports or with conveyors a plus
    • Ability to be badged to work in the secure are of an airport
    • Ability to work Day or Night shift including weekends and holidays - 12 hour shifts, 3 1/2 days on and 3 1/2 days off
